Google Numbers Tell All

While preparing to post his thoughts last week on Pennsylvania state senator Vincent Hughes’s belated response to the decaying state of Philadelphia public schools, The Curmudgeon took a moment to consider whether he might post a photo of some sort with the piece. He didn’t want a photo of Hughes, since he doesn’t expect any of his readers to know what Hughes looks like – The Curmudgeon doesn’t, either – but he thought he might find some kind of image of a windbag politician: a portly guy in a three-piece suit, maybe a pocket watch dangling ostentatiously. It was a long shot, but he thought it was worth taking a quick look.

So he typed the words “bloviating politician” into Google and directed the search to produce images.

And 15 of the first 25 images were of Donald Trump.

The polls may tell us one thing and the pundits may tell us another and the politicians may tell us yet another but Google’s algorithms KNOW.
