The Return of Doogie Howser

Well, not quite.

For starters, this teen wasn’t just pretending to be a doctor for our entertainment.

No, the 18-year-old Floridian was arrested for practicing medicine without a license and stealing from a patient.

The association of...what?

The association of…what?

Malachi Love-Robinson practiced medicine at the New Birth Life Medical Center. His web site – he had a web site! – said he specialized in naturopathy, an approach based on the healing powers of nature that avoids using surgery or drugs. Naturopathy just so happens not to be a licensed medical specialty in Florida and cannot be practiced in the state. His web site also said he’s 25 years old and accepts 19 health insurance plans plus Medicaid (unlike many doctors).

Conveniently, the web site doesn’t mention that Robinson was once stopped while wandering around a hospital wearing a white lab coat and a stethoscope draped around his neck when he was 17 years old.

Love-Robinson also says he is an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church who has completed a doctoral thesis that “explored the paradoxical nature of certain Christian doctrines and the implications for the rationality of the Christian faith.”

No word on how many patients he may have served during his years of medical practice.

robinsonBut you have to wonder: didn’t any of those patients ever look at this baby-faced kid and ask “What the hell?”
