Yet Another Nickname for Our Commander in Chief

As you know, The Curmudgeon often refers to President Trump as “Agent Orange” in honor of the strangely unnatural color of his skin.

And lately he has taken to calling President Trump Kim Jong-Trump, both because he aspires to be a dictator and because his thinking appears to be as crude and uninformed as the North Korean dictator.

But The Curmudgeon has been topped in the name-a-dope department by Tammy Duckworth, the Democratic senator from Illinois. If you’re not familiar with Senator Duckworth, she is the first Asian-American elected to the U.S. Senate; she was born in Thailand. In the Iraq war she was a helicopter pilot and the chopper she was co-piloting – it was its sixth flight of the day – was shot down by a rocket-propelled grenade. Despite losing both legs and damaging an arm, lieutenant colonel Duckworth received a medical waiver so she could continue serving her country, which she did until her retirement from the army.

Ten years later.

And on the floor of the Senate, Duckworth declared recently that she’s not going to be lectured about what our military needs by a “five-deferment draft dodger” (see it here, starting at around the one-minute mark), and since then she has nicknamed Trump, who has made a regular practice of giving derogatory, undeserved nicknames to his political opponents, “Cadet Bone Spurs” because Trump avoided the draft when his rich daddy paid a doctor to write on a form that he couldn’t serve his country because he had bone spurs.

“Cadet Bone Spurs”: get used to it because you’re going to be seeing that in this space in the future.

Francie and I were honored to volunteer for her campaign (in our deep red section of Illinois), proud to vote for her and thrilled to call her Senator Tammy!

Excellent selection – and it’s funny, because I think of her as “Senator Tammy,” too.
